Emerald 430MG
Emerald produces a thornless, glossy, buttery flavored artichoke for home gardeners that can also be used in landscaping. Heads are globe in shape, achieve large size and have wonderful eating quality.

Emerald is a good source of vitamins A, B, and C. Also a source of fiber, potassium, sodium, protein and iodine. Produces quality artichokes over a long period. Can be used in a variety of recipes. 180 to 360 days to harvest from transplanting. Although heads can be harvested the first year, it is advised that the plants be cut back to allow for greater yields during following years. Emerald should over-winter well and will produce artichokes to eat in the spring. PVP Protected.

Nutri-Red 500MG
Nutri-Red is a purplish-red carrot that is high in lycopene. Lycopene is a precurser to beta-carotene and is a compound that has been associated with reduced incidence of some types of cancer.

Produces carrots up to 9 inches in length, with crispy roots that taste wonderful cooked, and adds color and gourmet appeal to vegetable dishes and stews. This carrot is for cooking. When cooked, there is a transformation of texture, color and taste. 74 days to harvest from transplanting. Too much water can cause carrots to crack. They should be kept weeded (a clean mulch can reduce this job). Also, lightly place soil over exposed roots to prevent cracking.

Brocoverde is not a typical cauliflower, as the heads are green rather than white. A good source of minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin C, folic acid, potassium and bioflavonoids. The heads are

low in calories and high in fiber. Brocoverde contains antioxidants. Antioxidants have been associated with their ability to protect against oxidative damage. Flavor is sweet and mild as the best white cauliflower. 68 - 70 days to harvest after transplanting. Cauliflower needs plenty of water and fertilizer. A good producer again when planted in summer for fall harvest just before frost.

This 10 to 12 pound, naturally white pumpkin is excellent for carving or painting. Pumpkins average 8 to 10 inches across and store well. 105 days to harvest after transplanting. Ready to harvest in fall when rind cannot be dented with fingernail. Cut from vine with sharp knife, leaving a 3 inch handle.

Here is a bush bean unlike any you may have grown before. High in protein, with a delicious flavor, soybeans picked while they're green are a real treat. Also a good source of fiber and calcium.

Easy to grow and high yielding! 85 days to harvest after transplanting. Pull or clip when pods are plump and beans are full-size. Pick pods, rinse, and boil for 5 minutes. After cooling, gently squeeze pods to remove beans. Shelled soybeans are ready to eat when steamed or boiled 10-15 minutes.

Hi-Beta Gold is an excellent source of nutrients, especially the natural antioxidant beta-carotene, since this spaghetti squash was bred to have rich orange flesh. It is also a fine source for folic acid,

vitamin C and minerals. It is believed that deep orange squash like this one may help protect against several different types of cancers, or at least lower the risk. Also a good source of fiber. 75 days to harvest after transplanting. Don't cut winter squash from the vine until firmly ripe (when you have a hard time making a dent in the shell with your thumbnail). Harvest before frost.

Hakurei Hybrid 500MG
The greens are an excellent source of vitamin A and a good source of vitamin C and calcium. Hakurei produces extremely uniform roots with snow white skin and crisp flesh. The mild taste makes it

excellent for salads. Tops can also be used as greens for salads or cooking. Easy-to-grow variety. Harvest can be done anytime after roots reach 2 inches in diameter. Best if harvested before 3 1/2 inches in diameter. 40 - 60 days to harvest after transplanting. Oriental turnip roots can become woody if they are allowed to grow too large. To harvest, loosen soil around base of leaves, then grab tops and pull.
