Santa Anna is a French-type, stringless, deep-green pole bean. Best when harvested when no bigger than a pencil. With its excellent taste and high yielding harvest, Santa Anna is a great choice for every gardener. 65-70 days to harvest from transplanting, 6-8 days to germination.

Avoid working around beans when wet; this may spread diseases. When weeding, hoe gently because beans are shallow rooted. Mulch plants only after thinning.

Mezza Lunga Nantese has a very sweet taste and grows to around 6 inches long. Prefers loose sandy loam in a sheltered location. Perfect in cole slaw and may be served as a vegetable alone or with other veggies. Add carrots to a jar of pickles to add delightful color. 55-72 days to harvest from germination, 8-12 days to germination.

Too much water can cause carrots to crack. They should be kept weeded (a clean mulch can reduce this job). Also, place soil lightly over exposed roots to prevent cracking.

For later use, freeze leaves or dry them in the shade. Interplant parsley with roses and tomatoes to enhance vigor of both.

You can eat them right off the vine! These straight pods will produce 7-9 peas per pod on plants that reach 17 to 19 inches tall. Meraviglia D'Italia will be a delicious addition to your meal when you serve hot with butter. 80 days to harvest from germination, 8-12 days to germination.

When harvesting peas, do not jerk pods from vines since rough handling can cause plants to stop producing. It is best to snip clusters of pods from vines with scissors or pruners.

Harvest entire plant at the soil line when outer leaves are 6 inches long or just cut away outer leaves as needed for continuous crop until hot weather. Sow again in late summer for fall crop.

When plants are 7 inches tall, cut outer leaves at soil level with sharp knife. Harvest will continue all season if inside leaves are permitted to grow.
