Basil
Bush Spicy Globe 250MG
Annual herb. This is a refined bush basil from Italy where it is known for its fine green leaf and is formed like a ball. So perfectly uniform they look pruned. Excellent as a container plant. Easy to grow. Start seed indoors near a sunny window 6 weeks before transplanting to the garden. Or, sow in garden in full sun when frost danger is over and ground is warm. Thin plants to 10 inches apart when they are 2 inches tall. Makes an excellent attractive border plant. Delicious in green salads, tomato and cheese dishes, soups and omelets.

Basil
Genovese 200MG
Annual herb. This large leaf type originated in Italy where it was selected for its flavor in making pesto. These productive plants belong in every herb garden. Easy to grow. Plant seeds when nighttime temperatures are consistantly above 50 degrees Farenheit. Or start seeds indoors four to five weeks earlier and transplant to the garden after danger of frost has passed. When plants are 6 inches tall, pinch back to three sets of leaves to encourage

branching. Pinch off flower buds when they form. Keep well watered. For peak flavor, pick leaves when fully enlarged. Fertilize after a heavy harvest to encourage re-growth.

Basil is a soft-stemmed plant and its leaves are pungent in flavor. This aromatic herb can be used to make pesto, or add to your favorite salad, pasta or meat dish. Pick leaves and stems at any time for fresh use. 5-10 days for germination.

Use leaves fresh or dry for seasoning. Great for a dramatic garden background.

Annual herb. Lemony flavor and aroma, a treat in cooking or garden! Lends wonderful flavor to salads, tomato dishes, cheese, omelets and essential for pesto. After all danger of frost, sow seeds in open ground well exposed. Cover with 1/8 inch of soil. Or, start indoors 6 weeks before last frost. Thin or transplant to 6 inches apart when they are 4 inches tall. Pick leaves as needed.

Annual herb. Aromatic leaves with a spicy, mild, peppery flavor with a trace of mint and clove. Leaves are superb with veal, lamb, poultry, fish, and vegetables. Start seed indoors near a sunny window 6 weeks before transplanting to the garden. Or, sow in garden in full sun when frost danger is over and ground is warm. Performs best in rows 2 feet apart. Thin plants to 18 inches apart when they are 2 inches tall. Makes an attractive border plant.

Delicious in green salads, tomato and cheese dishes, soups and omelets.

Annual herb. The leaves of this attractive herb have a spicy flavor which makes green salads, tomato and cheese dishes, soups and omelets extra delicious. The entire plant has a very pleasing aroma. Good companion for tomato plants. Start seed indoors near a sunny window 6 weeks before transplanting to the garden. Or, sow in garden in full sun when frost danger is over and ground is warm. Performs best in rows 2 feet apart. Thin or transplant plants 10 inches apart when they are 3 inches tall.

Remove flower buds to encourage leaf growth. Begin harvesting all but 2 or 3 leaves at the base of each branch before flowers bloom. Preserve leaves by drying or freezing.
